 The Mizoram Electricity Regulatory Commission (MZERC) was constituted by Government of Mizoram under the provision of Section 82 of the Electricity Act, 2003 (36 of 2003) vide No. A.11019/1/2023-P&E Dt. 19^th July, 2024 with effect from Dt. 23.07.2024 to regulate the affairs of power sector in the State. The constitution of MZERC was made following the bifurcation of Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for Manipur and Mizoram upon the expiry of the Memorandum of Agreement signed among the Government of India and the States of Manipur and Mizoram on 22.07.2024. The MZERC is a body corporate by the name aforesaid having perpetual succession and a common seal, with power to acquire, hold and dispose of property, both movable and immovable and to contract and shall, by the said name, sue or be sued. In addition, the Commission is a Statutory and Quasi-judicial body.
